The Dentist couples, Mrs. Nupur & Rajesh Talwar, living in Noida, New Delhi were convicted on 25th November, 13 on charges of murdering their only child and their servant. This case came to a closure at the lower court after being dragged for over 60 months, but still has left many questions unanswered, besides becoming the hottest topic right from ordinary citizens to legal luminaries as still it has not provided a clear cut explanation of how it had happened.

The details

On the hot morning of 16th, May, 2008 the Talwars had called the Noida police to report that they had found their teenaged daughter, Arushi killed and lying in a pool of bed. They further added that they suspected Hemaraj the domestic servant had committed the heinous crime. But this came to a crap, because, the day later, the police found his body on a terrace decomposed and covered on a water cooler panel.
There were many goof-ups that were committed by the police, late the Central Bureau of Investigation. The later wanted the case to be closed on the account that event though the needle of suspicion points the murders having been committed by the Doctor couple, yet the evidence was circumstantial. In the absence of direct evidence, the case would have to be closed. The investigating Magistrate did not accept the report and ordered for further probe.
The case took sever turns and twists, became the talking point in the court hall, dining table, coffee houses etc until the verdict was pronounced holding them to be culprits based on the available circumstantial evidence

Conclusions

The legal battle at the lower court might have been settled, but it not the end as the Talwars can appeal further which can reopen it and drag for years. There was a sad end to Arushi. Only time can tell whether Talwars would ever come out of the irreparable damage it has caused to their lives.
