Timeout, folks! What has Obama ACTUALLY done?

A slick campaigner even as President, Barack Obama is able to deflect intense criticism through carefully crafted speeches and support from many unable to admit his numerous failures. But the "at least he's better than/blame Bush" rebuttal doesn't cut the mustard now, especially since his time in the White House is going on three years. The US economy is appalling, Iraq and Afghanistan policies are failing and the only change realistic people can see is that things are getting worse, not better.

Obama as a Sacred Cow

I'm not fond of labels but I accept the fact many people would label me as "rightwing" or "conservative", despite my libertarian leanings. I can criticise the legacy of George W. Bush, baulk at Mitt Romney's presidential proposals and rush to the nearest bathroom to puke when I hear Michelle Bachmann's whiny, repetitive voice on TV.

So, the question is, why can't Democrats and other leftwingers do the same with Obama? It seems nowadays that someone left of centre is more likely to condemn the policies of Jesus Christ than those of Obama's (only a slight hyperbole, actually!). Yet any fool looking at the parlous state of the US budget or economy in general can tell that things need some serious, fundamental changes NOW. If the rapid disintegration and deficit levels experienced today occurred under George W. Bush's watch, I'd not be exaggerating too much if I said Democratic lynch-mobs would be forming at every street corner (haha, okay, an exaggeration, but you still get my point about the hypocrisy).

The answer to this "riddle" (a riddle because the ignorance and pigheadedness of some makes it so) is that Obama is untouchable in the minds of many. Like an impotent man everyone thinks is actually a deity, his mistakes are forgotten as soon as he brings out his flowery phrases and flashes that toothy smile.

Well Benedict, it seems there is you, I and maybe, nahhh what am I talking about, we are basically the only ones that seem to lean to the right here on Wikinut. Most folks are fair about it all but, not all. I too have been called a far right nut, a Sarah Palin gun toting (cant be that, had to sell my gun to pay the power bill one month, last year) woman and even worse at times, I mean heaven forbid I mention God, anywhere and at anytime. I can honestly say, I have never been 100% behind any president or party since I can remember and that includes the right's 'go to man', Ronald Reagan. I am more like the 40% of Americans that can see both sides of the coin and would rather see a good person in the job, than 'my party' being the winner. Every election I am a responsible voter, I prepare before hand, I do my research and that does not mean, I go by what the media has to spew. The candidates records and such is more important to me, then what comes out of their pie holes but, I do not ignore what they say either, it is just not the whole of my decision. During the 08 elections, just like the ones before, I researched those that were trying for the position of CIC and their sidekicks, I watched all debates and then compared it with the reality of what they did do and mind you, I did the same before the nominations were a lock and we had plenty of folks biding for the position. I did not vote for Obama/Biden for the very reason I have stated, I looked at their records (obama's case, the lack there of) and I did not like what I saw by no means. I also listened closely and the high gas prices that Obama said was a good idea, in early 08 made me look even closer into his ideaology and once again, I didn't like what I saw. When it came to Biden, I had read enough of his pie hole spewing in SFRC meetings and hearings on Iraq, for three years I did research on Iraq. Biden sure makes the funny gaffes we all laugh at but, I found a lot more to just be afraid of this guy, going back to the mid 90's. Biden's way of thinking, is not even where I want our country to go. I will never and I mean never, cast my vote to give him any kind of power. I wish folks would realize that it doesn't matter what party they come from, it is what the candidates do that matter. We are all Americans and we should be rooting for one team and one team only, the American team, not dem or rep. Benedict, all you have to do is see the hypocracy by the groups that wanted GWB's blood for gitmo, fighting in Afghanistan, patriot act and tax cuts and yet, they give Obama a pass. It just infuriates me to no end. I actually left a message just the other day when a fellow writer quoted GWB's Tax cuts, which mind you are now Obama's, he has taken that one on himself, since he did sign it into law, before the deadline came up. Do not get me wrong, I am all for them but, we as a form of media, need to be truthful about it all. Let me end by putting this scenerio to ya, what if GWB had invaded Libya, had the seals go into Pakistan and shoot Osama and then just drop him in the ocean, no if's and's or buts. What if GWB had put in place a surge in Afghanistan. Now how would the media and the fringe groups act towards this? They would bring back public hangings, yet they let Obama get a pass and when they do this, they lose their argument, for me that is. Well stated article. Thank you for sharing.:)
