What are the hot certifications for 2018 that will help you keep pace with technology and advance your career and paycheck?

Top 5 Highest Paying Cyber Security Certification Courses for 2018

The honest truth is that security certifications literally pay their own way. However, when you are making career decisions for a long-term payoff, some avenues of study are better than others. Skill demands can change from year to year as training seeks to keep up with ever-changing technology and stay ahead of hackers. Certifications received as recently as two years past are more than likely headed towards obsolescence unless continuing education and training is undertaken. The IT professional that keeps up with the needs of a rapidly changing and evolving field will make a generous income in 2018 and in the years ahead.
What are the hot certifications for 2018 that will help you keep pace with technology and advance your career and paycheck?

Topping the list at number one is The Amazon Web Services Certification.
The cloud now truly does have a silver lining - a comfortable paycheck. However, if you want some of that silver and gold, it's a good idea to pursue an AWS Certification. Cloud-based technology and services are steadily on the rise showing no signs of falling off in the foreseeable future. Businesses are riding the cloud to save money, time, and space. The demand for IT professionals with this kind of training is on the increase.

Amazon Web Services holds the largest share of the sky when it comes to the cloud hosting market. Salaries for those riding high on Amazon’s cloud can be a six-figure income and job security.

Second on the list is ISACA’s Certification in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)

ISACA is a professional association focusing on the international governance of IT. The acronym stands for Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

Data breaches ran rampant in 2017, with many of them happening in places where they should not have. If you escaped the carnage, you are part of the fortunate few - given the Equifax, Uber and Yahoo breaches of 2017. It should come as no surprise there is great demand in 2018 for talented IT specialists who can reduce the IT risk for businesses that live and die on their data.

Given the security threats of fraud, ransomware, compromised email, hacking, cyber terrorism, and cyber-crime, security is the hot-button issue for IT in 2018 and most likely for the foreseeable future. Constant learning must be the focus of the well-paid IT tech for this decade. Consider this certification when selecting your IT security courses.

The CRISC certification can command a salary up to $100,000 per year in U.S. dollars, according to CBTNuggets.com.

Third on the list is CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certification.
The CompTIA certifications are neutral certifications and prove that basic IT skills have been acquired. The CASP certification demonstrates a more advanced level of security proficiency. The CompTIA exams are less costly than those that are vendor-specific and meet requirements set by U.S. government agencies such as the Department of Defense. Consider this certification when selecting your IT security courses.

According to PayScale.com, IT experts with the CompTIA CASP certification can make close to $100,000 per year.

Fourth on the list is Amazon once again; the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional Certification.

According to Amazon DevOps is a combination of practices, tools, and philosophies that allows a business to provide services at high speed. This skillset also allows a business to evolve and to improve the pace of services more rapidly and effectively than those organizations that use traditional software development strategies and management processes. Organizations can, therefore, better serve their customers.

DevOps is a new concept so there are few IT professionals with the skills and the certifications needed to implement the DevOps approach. Demand is out there, and highly likely to increase, with the fattest paychecks and advancement going to those who get in early.

According to PayScale.com, engineers certified in DevOps can receive a salary of as much as $137,000 per year.

Fifth on the list is VMware certification.

The vSphere 6.5-DCV is the latest edition of this certification. It is also a prerequisite for the more advanced certifications from VMware. An understanding of VMware will allow the IT tech to easily pick up other virtualization platforms. Jobs focusing on VMware can command from $60,000 to $95,000 per year in salary.

Amazon Web Services and DevOps, risk management, security, and VMware top the highest paying IT certifications for 2018. The cyber-landscape is ever changing and growing. There are new opportunities along with new dangers in the IT world.

An Ohio University blog about advances in transportation technology talks about the Internet of Things. It assumes that all items and people can and will be connected through networks that could affect our daily driving. Autonomous cars and even semi-trucks, one demand transportation services, and more visionary transportation systems such as SpaceX’s Hyperloop, are in our future. The IT professional that keeps up with the needs of employers can expect a good paycheck.
