Wagner College Rugby Team games in 2008 Fall season.

This article is a recap of a few of the games during the 2008 fall season for the Wagner College rugby team in Staten Island, New York.

Wagner College 47 Drew University 0

Wagner College recorded their second win after beating Drew University by 47 points. Angelo D'Amico scored three trys and Ryan Dugan had two. Both, with outstanding days on offense, did just the same on defense.

Tom McCafferty and Dan D'Amato had one try each while Casey McCafferty piled up the tackles on defense for the Seahawks (2-1).

Wagner 36 Rowan 19

Wagner, now on a roll with their 3rd win against Rowan, are now in 3rd place. Tom McCafferty and Angelo D'Amico scored two tries while Dan D'Amato and Troy Barry scored one try apiece. Steve Composto lead the forwards.

Wagner 26 Bard 20

Andrew D'Amico had three tries and Tom McCafferty one as Wagner College defeated Bard College. The game came down to the wire with the Wagner defense saving the day. Wagner lead 26-20 with just 2 minutes left and Bard with the ball. Penalties got the ball to the Wagner 10 meter line, but Wagner picked it up. Stopping the ball a few times right before the try line.The forced a turnover and kicked out of bounds for the win.

Wagner 29 SUNY Maritime 36

The Wagner College rugby team fell short, 36-29, to SUNY-Maritime in its Metropolitan New York Football Union regular-season finale yesterday at the Fort Tilden field, Queens.

Casey McCafferty, Angelo D'Amico, Ryan Dugan, and Troy Barry scored trys while kicker Andrew Sheldon made a field goal and three of four conversions.

Flanker Jeremy Naylor and hooker Steve Composto played well in the scrums for the (4-2) Seahawks, who play in Sunday's playoff semifinal against Maritime.

Wagner lead 26-7 at halftime with an outstanding first half of play. Due to injuries, coaching decisions, and poor play on some of the Wagner players, Maritime came back and scored 29 unanswered points, including the game winner with 7 seconds left to play in injury time.

Metropolitan New York College League Playoffs Wagner 7 SUNY Maritime 14

In the first round of the Metropolitan New York College League playoffs, the Seahawks finished their first season with a tough setback.

Wagner trailed 14-0 before Tom McCafferty made a try five minutes into the second half.

Great defense was played by Ryan Dugan (fullback), Dan D'Amato (wing), and Casey McCafferty (inside center) while Angelo D'Amico (eight Man) played through an injury and delivered some big runs and some big hits. Steve Composto (hooker) was also great during the scrums.

Wagner College finished 3rd place on the season.
