Several news channels reported the joke of Pope Francis that he was a pharmacist. He has distinguished himself from his predecessors in many ways.

Prescribing pharmacist

It is well known that Pope Francis who was elected in March 2013 as the 266th pope of the Catholic Church has become very popular within a short period. He has distinguished himself from his predecessors in many ways. The very fact that he chose the name Francis, following the footsteps of St.Francis of Assisi, reveals that he is determined to reflect Jesus Christ in him. He is doing the service of a therapist, healing the people physically, mentally and spiritually.

Several news channels reported the joke of Pope Francis that he was a pharmacist. Colleen Curry of abc NEWS reported it on 18 November with a headline “Pope Francis Jokes He Is 'Pharmacist,' Is Rx for Church Attendance”. It was really another classic “Pope Francis moment” in St. Peter's Square which proved his papacy to be a healer of souls, by which he suggested rosary as a remedy of prayer therapy.

Medicine boxes containing beads of “mercy”

It caused a powerful spark of wave throughout the world when the new Pontiff held up the box that resembled a packet of pills emblazoned with a design of a human heart and joked that he was a pharmacist prescribing a great remedy for the illnesses of the world. Offering some 20,000 boxes of “mercy”, containing rosaries, to pilgrims in St Peter's Square, the Pope insisted the need of prayer as a therapy for the problems of the modern world.

A pharmacist of souls

Pope Francis, through various actions that he has taken in the short period of his papacy, has distinguished himself to be a real healer of souls. He wants to reach the whole world and share Christ with everyone. He is swamping social media with more than 10 million followers on Twitter sharing his spiritual prescriptions throughout the world.

The impact on ordinary Catholics and non-Catholics alike has been felt extraordinarily which has caused a healthy change in the overall history of the church. His humble and simple ways have attracted everyone. In Pope Francis people see the Christ who traversed everywhere, healing the sick and doing good to all. Pope Francis is a real pharmacist who is prescribing remedy to heal the sick church.

He is a wonderful being! And I'm not Catholic either, but somehow it looks more attractive with him at the head.

This pope reminds me of Pope John Paul, a man I admired. Although not Catholic, this reasures me. I found this interesting to read. Michelle
