Among the various engineering entrance examinations, JEE Main and BITSAT are quite popular. BITSAT is the entrance examination for BITS Pilani, Dubai, Goa and Hyderabad, campuses whereas JEE Main serves as a preliminary exam to enter the prestigious IITs of the country and direct exam to enter institutions like NIT's and IIITs.

Why do students consider it easier to crack BITSAT over IIT JEE?

JEE is the Joint Entrance Examination while the full form of BITSAT is Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test. Both these competitive exams are used to screen the best talents but if you are looking for an entrance examination that has comparatively less competition, then BITSAT is perhaps the best option.

Listed below are the reasons that explain why candidates feel they have better chances of acing BITSAT over JEE Main:

1. Compared to JEE Main, BITSAT has much less competition. This is because BITSAT starts after JEE is over. The primary aim of most candidates appearing for JEE is getting into the IITs, so the toppers either don’t appear for BITSAT or are already placed in the IITs, NITs and IIITs. And, this results in lesser competition.

2. In addition, since the exam is after JEE, you can get more time for preparation. Also, you can even take any remedial action required to score well in BITSAT of you feel that you score in JEE will not be upto the mark.

3.Unlike JEE Main, BITSAT offers a good weightage for logical skills and English language. This is another chance for you to get the best or even obtain full marks in this section.

4.Another plus point about BITSAT is the number of students who apply for the exam. As there is usually less number of candidates applying, a careless mistake may not cost you as much as it does in the JEE where the competition is way too tough.

5.Compared to JEE Main, the questions in BITSAT are considered to be easier. This is so because of the fact that the number of questions that need to be answered within the given time are way more than JEE. This gives students the benefit of having a simpler question paper to answer.

6. Another convenience that BITSAT offers is that you can choose the dates of BITSAT depending upon whether you are prepared or not. This can benefit you especially if you use the last few weeks or days very well. Revising basic facts and practicing few concepts before the exam can be very well done as you have some additional time.

Even though all these above-mentioned points explain why many students consider opting for BITSAT over JEE Mains, the drawback of this exam is that you can attempt JEE Main thrice but for BITSAT, you get only two chances. For instance, candidates who have attempted for JEE Mains 2017 can appear for this exam for two more times; however, candidates who have attempted for BITSAT 2017 can appear for this only for one more time.

If you are interested in applying for BITSAT, then you can avail the form online. This year the form was available online from January 2017 onwards. An online exam is usually conducted in the month of May. You will need to fix an appropriate slot for a particular date of your exam. The results are usually out in the month of July.

Whichever entrance exam you want to go for, just remember that hard work, patience and a strong grasp on the basics are mandatory. Without these basic things, it will become hard to score good marks. Another vital thing that you must have is a positive attitude at all times, as this is the only thing that helps in reducing stress and nervousness.
